TEACHERS & ASSISTANTS

 

Kristina (Wallace) Boysen: Kristina is the owner of 5 Star Dance & Tumbling Academy, which she started in 2005.  Kristina has over 30 years of dance and tumbling experience.  She received a BA in Psychology and an emphasis in dance from the University of Northern Iowa in 2005.  She started dance and tumbling at the age of 3 and has competed in dance and tumbling since the age of 7 as well as choreographed routines since the age of 8. She has won many choreography awards and her dancers have won many outstanding trophies and awards.  She attends dance workshops every year to keep up with changing times and to learn new techniques and teaching methods. Kristina teaches all dance styles along with tumbling.  She is also head instructor of the 5 Star competition team.

 

Sarah (Miller) Harms: Teacher. Sarah has taken dance and tumbling since the age of 3 with about 17 years of experience and 10  years of teaching experience.  She competed in both studio dance and middle school/high school dance teams growing up.  She currently teaches the creative movements and combination classes at 5 Star for the younger students as well as a few older student beginner/intermediate based classes.

 

Samantha (Bengford) Reese: Teacher. Samantha took dance for 12 years. She took jazz, tap, pom and hip hop. She joined 5 Star Dance and Tumbling Academy the year it opened in 2005, and competed on the 5 Star Competition Team as well as being part of her High School Dance Team. She attended Western Iowa Tech after high school and graduated with an AAS in Business Management.  This will be her third year teaching at 5 Star.

 

Kat Morris:: Teacher: Kat is originally from Early, IA and currently lives in Odebolt.  She has been dancing since the age of 3.  She began her training at a studio in Beaumont, TX and continued to take studio dance lessons at Fusion Dance in Carroll, IA.  She was a member od the dance team throughout high school at Schaller Crestland and helped with state choreography.  After high school, she attended Iowa Central Community College and danced for the Tritons for 2 years.  During college, she travelled and taught with National Dance Alliance (NDA).  After college, Kat coached the Buena Vista University Dance Team for 2 years and helped with local high school choreography.  Kat is excited to start her second year at 5 Star where she will teaching older classes and electives.

HELPERS/STUDENT TEACHERS:

-Taylor Devine: Helper. Taylor will be a junior  at OABCIG High School and has been part of the 5 Star Competition Team the past 9 years and a student helper for 4 years.  She will be helping with beginner and intermediate classes.

-Taylor Beck: Helper. Taylor will be a junior at OABCIG High School and has been part of the 5 Star Competition Team the past 9 years and a student helper for 4 years.  She will be helping with beginner and intermediate classes.

-Kya Ladwig: Helper. Kya will be a freshmen at OABCIG High School and has been part of the 5 Star Competition Team for the past 7 years and a student helper for 2 years.  She will be helping with beginner and intermediate classes.

-Mia Mortensen: Helper. Mia will be a sophomore at OABCIG High School and has been part of the Competition Team the past 8 years. She has been a student helper for 2 years. She will be helping with beginner and intermediate classes.

 

-Patience Johnson: Helper. Patience will be an 8th grader at OABCIG Middle School and has been part of the Competition Team for 6 years.  She has been a student helper for 1 year.  She will be helping with beginner level classes.

-Aubree Zimmerman: Aubree will be an 8th grader at OABCIG Middle School and has been part of the Competition Team for 6 years.  She has been a student helper for 1 year.  She will be helping with beginner level classes.

-Tatum Oldham: Tatum will be an 8th grader at OABCIG Middle School and has been a part of the Competition Team for 4 years. She has been a student helper for 1 year.  She will be helping with beginner level classes.
